Welt der Kristalle

Welt der Kristalle (World of Crystals) is a mineral and fossil museum with its own crystal shop in Dietingen, near Rottweil in Baden-Württemberg. It opened in March 2011 to show the private collection of entrepreneur Alexander Müller: more than 1,000 crystals, gemstones and fossils from around the world, including dinosaur skeletons, fossil fish, giant crystals you’re allowed to touch, one of the world’s largest amethyst geodes and a 220-million-year-old petrified forest from Arizona.
The shop covers about 100 square metres and keeps the same hours as the museum. It sells minerals, fossils and gemstone jewellery, along with quality gifts and statement interior pieces such as petrified-wood tables and lamps and tables made from amethyst geodes and rock crystal. There’s also a webshop, and the museum runs talks and guided group tours.
Find Welt der Kristalle at Fronstraße 9, 78661 Dietingen. Regular hours are Thursday and Friday 2pm to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 11am to 5pm. During Baden-Württemberg school holidays it opens Tuesday to Sunday, and special hours apply on public holidays, so check the website before a visit. Call +49 741 26950110.
